22ND. JULY 2011 BISHOP'S VISIT AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION!
After 10.00p.m. on Monday evening, Bishop Hil Kabashi surprised us with a telephone call! He had an appointment at 11.00a.m. on Tuesday at "Mary Potter Clinic" here in Korce, and he would like to visit us afterwards! It was Amira's day in the kitchen and, with an early start, she prepared a fine meal with very little help. It was enjoyed by all. Following the meal, Dimitri went for a rest and Mons. spoke to us. There was nothing new in his talk - his building site in Pogradec was mentioned a few times. He also spoke of our visit from the Papal Nuncio.
We are very aware that World Youth Day will take Mirjam and Amira away early in August. Because of this, we decided to have a Birthday celebration yesterday, even though a little early, for Mirjam. We had heard there was a group at Ohrid and that there would be Mass at 6.30p.m. Off we went in the afternoon, - see photographic proof provided with the help of Mirjam. The priest was Slovenian and the group had Caritas volunteers from Bosnia, Slovenia and Croatia. Because of this, the Mass had at least one English hymn. It's their common language to cross their country borders! Needless to say, we were delighted to have this treat and we got back here in very good time.
St. Mary Magdalen's feast today is special too. Have a great weekend!
