1ST.APRIL 2011 JOURNEY, 15TH. BIRTHDAY, RETREAT GROUP!
All went well, thank God, on my Tuesday journey! As my time in London was very short, I requested assistance. This truly simplified a transfer that was complicated by the introduction of a shuttle train. The train has replaced the ten minute bus ride between terminals.
When I arrived in Tirana, I telephoned from the airport and Amira asked, if I would be too tired to make a home visit on arrival at Korce. I assured her I would happily go along with her. We both enjoyed the visit to our Greek friend, whom we help with French and English conversation. In fact the visit turned out to be a party for the 15th. Birthday of her daughter, Theodora. We met both parents, grandmother and five
classmate friends. Needless to say, "Happy Birthday" was sung in English as always.
Life returned back to normal easily, with an early Shqip class! It was good to meet Nickey who had returned from England while I was away. Also, Mike very kindly called to hear news of my 'arm check-up'.
Now, we await the arrival of a group of young people - aged 16-20 from Berat. They left at 5.30a.m. and are due here at 11.00a.m. We expect nine young people and a Sister. Amira said - 'A Mme. Dandigny nun'- these Sisters' headgear reminds us of pictures in Angers of Mother Foundress and her friend! Already, a number of our young adults are here to be with the group. We will have a full house until tomorrow lunchtime. The group will sleep elsewhere. Charlie will join us and give them a retreat this evening.
Later today, I look forward to meeting Mirjam. She has been in Pogradec with friends.
Have a great weekend!
PS. Today is known as - "Politician's Day" here and also as the "Day of Lies".....
