7TH. MARCH 2011 ALICIA, CELEBRATION OF WPD. AND IWD.!
On Thursday last, Ana and I visited 6 year old Alicia. She lives locally and has been a blessing to us in the past. She had just returned from hospital in Macedonia. I understood, from her mother, that she will now have to spend six weeks living very quietly. This is allow the bone in her thigh to 'knit'. Not at all easy for a child. Please God, the end result will be that she will walk normally.
We celebrated World Prayer Day and International Women's Day on Saturday. We were a group of 21 people here. As Maltese David said, "It was very simple but straight to the point." The service this year was prepared by the women of Chile. It asked that people look at the troubled times in their country and, in their own lives, to see how they had overcome difficulties, both nationally and personally. We had it in Albanian, led by Nadia, who teaches through French. Because of this, preparation took time. I look forward to hearing translation of the written points shared for prayer. One Muslim lady arrived for the service with individually decorated flowers for each of us. An early gift for tomorrow!
Yesterday, we invited our three teachers for a very simple evening meal. We all really enjoyed it. Today, is 'Teacher's Day' in Albania, a school holiday! However, because of our celebration last evening, we were able to have our classes as usual.
We have bright sunny weather, but I hear, the temprature is due to reach -8 degrees during the week!
That is a good note on which to wish you a good, healthy, Lent!
