22ND. MARCH 2011. GREECE, ST. PATRICK'S DAY AND INCHYDONEY.
My journey to Greece took more than six hours, mainly due to eight busses, juggling for space, at the Border Controls. Thessaloniki was all sunshine and 20 degrees. I had a delightful walk on the waterfront - a Biblical reflection. Then, I got a Spanish Mass, with Greek translation of readings and homily! There would be an English Mass on Sunday morning, but not early enough for me! I met one of Mother Teresa's Sisters. She was Albanian and guided me towards the priests. One had English and both had good French. I was really glad to make this connection for the future. The airport was very busy and my travel to Ireland, via London, went smoothly, thank God, as did my check-up at the Fracture Clinic.
Sister Catherine Hughes and I drove to Limerick on Tuesday. We were laden with luggage of a Sister changing her residence. We arrived in good time as ten of us were gathering for an evening of Remembrance for Sr. Marie Murphy. It was memorable and centred on a Mass. Thanks, Dolores! Limerick looked very beautiful, with daffodils everywhere, and green decorations for St. Patrick! The same was true of Cork on Wednesday. I had travelled with Sr. Clare O'Sullivan, met Elma, and got to Inchydoney quite early. In case you think the place name is strange, there is a page on Facebook - "Inchydoney - the Wonder Years". This was started by a local girl and shows its beauty. I thoroughly enjoyed three days there. The only cloud was family ill-health, which has shadowed the past few weeks. Family contacts continued over a sunny weekend in Dublin. Now, I am back in Belfast for a Bone Density Scan that is scheduled for later this week. Its a routine procedure following a fracture.
Thank you, Lalini, for updating me about Korce. As you know, there are a few days left, then countdown to my return can begin!
Au revoir and God Bless!
